How to Apply for a Non-Commercial Driver's License in PA

All new residents with out-of-state non-commercial driver's licenses must obtain a PA Driver’s License within 60 days of establishing residency in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. To apply, you must appear in person at one of the Drivers Testing Centers. You will be required to surrender your out-of-state driver’s license (valid or expired six months or less) before PennDOT will issue you a PA Driver's License. You will need to take a vision-screening test and complete the necessary forms, which are available at the Driver License Centers. In addition, you will need to show proof of identification and residency ( Some Examples are:  A Lease or Mortgage Statement and copies of current utility bills in your name which show your new PA address and a Birth Certificate) . A knowledge test is not required for new residents with out-of-state driver's licenses which are valid or expired six months or less.

 How to Apply for a Photo Identification (ID) Card in PA

An ID card is a viable source of identification offered to individuals 10 years of age and older who may or may not have a driver's license. To apply for an ID card, you must appear in person at one of the Driver License Centers and present proof of identification and residency requirements. If you have an out-of-state driver's license or ID card, you will need to surrender it at the time of application for a PA ID card.  

 How to Apply for a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) in PA

 All new residents with out-of-state CDL’s must obtain a PA CDL within 30 days of establishing Pennsylvania residency. To apply, you must appear in person at one of the Driver License Centers. You will be required to surrender your out-of-state CDL (valid or expired six months or less) before PennDOT can issue you a PA CDL. You will need to take a vision screening test and complete the necessary forms, which are available at the Driver License Centers. In addition, you will need to show proof of identity and residency.

RENEWALS

Driver's license/ photo ID renewals are processed immediately online and your PennDOT record is updated instantly. Please bring your Pennsylvania driver's license/ photo ID for renewal. You will receive a camera card that is to be presented to a PennDOT photo license center for finalization of the renewal process. There will not be any additional fees at the photo license center.

DUPLICATE

We process temporary driver's licenses online for your immediate use. A new driver's license (with the photo) will be mailed to you in approximately 5 days. Please bring some form of government issued identification or a passport for verification of identity.

CHANGE OF ADDRESS

Performance Auto Tags is able to change the address on your driver’s license/ photo IDs immediately. You will receive a change of address card that is to be kept with your driver’s license/ photo ID. Please remember to bring your current PA driver's license or photo ID. Inform us if you wish to obtain a new driver's license/ photo ID with your new address.. This option is more costly, but avoids the need to carry two documents.

DRIVING RECORD

Driving records can be requested online by our customers and are available immediately. You may request your own Driver's Record or it may be obtained by an employer or attorney with the driver's notarized signature.
